Growing up in a low-income household, I quickly became aware of the challenges that come with living on a tight budget. My parents worked long hours in a factory to provide for our family, and while they did their best to provide for us, we often had to make sacrifices to make ends meet.
As a child of color, I also experienced racism and discrimination in my community. These experiences made me acutely aware of the struggles that many people face simply because of their race or ethnicity. Despite the challenges I faced, I found solace in music. I spent countless hours editing and mixing songs from the radio, and my passion for music became a source of inspiration and motivation for me. Music gave me an outlet to express myself creatively and helped me to stay focused and motivated even when times were tough.
As a teenager, I began working to help support my family. But no matter how hard I worked, I never lost my love for music.
In 2020, I faced a personal illness that threatened to derail my life. But even in the face of this challenge, I turned to music for comfort and strength. I spent countless hours at home, learning to mix, and found that music helped me to stay centered and focused even in the most difficult times.
Inspired by my love of music and my commitment to help those who are struggling like I did, I decided to create a non-profit organization that would provide financial scholarships to graduating high school seniors in need of financial support. I realized that many students faced the same challenges that I had growing up, and that music could be a powerful tool for helping them to stay motivated and focused on their goals.
Today, I use the money from my DJ gigs to support this organization, and I am proud to say that we have already helped many students to achieve their dreams of higher education. Through this work, I am able to combine my passion for music with my commitment to our youth, and to make a real difference in the lives of others.
